Fishing in Kundang
Tuesday (4 April 2006) was a trip to Kundang for fishing after i heard so much story about the fishing pond there. Keith and I had decided on sunday what we will pay a visit to this fishing pond. Since it was decided, i went to TackleBox in SS15 (my hangout place and information gathering on fishing) to ask Theriq for the direction and preparation for Kundang fishing pond. After gathering all the require information. I was satisfied and well equip my gear that night itself.
Then the morning comes.
9.30am. i wake up and prepare myself. Keith called say he will be late due to an appointment with his classmate.
10.30am. Keith called he will be very late as his fren yet to come
11.00 am. Keith manage to get himself to my hse
11.20am. We all set and pack to go Kundang.
Photo taken along the way to kundang. This was our few last clue to get there.
The Kundang pond are also known by the name "Tou foo" to be more precise. The owner of that pond has make this place popular among anglers in KL. The amazing part was that those fishes there were feed with by product of Tou Foo. To my knowledge, they get those Tou Foo makers to sent their soya bean waste after extracting their juice to make tou foo.
So this fishes really eat tou foo. As to that, Tou Foo was our secret weapon when comes to Tou Foo pond to fish. As the name implies Tou Foo.. u really got to use "Tou Foo". They do sell them at the pond rest house. Oh.. food is also available there.. so u dun have to travel far.
First catch of the day. It was a Lampan. Relatively small but was worthy fighter.
When we first land our fishing tackle into the pond armed with tou foo. We were assuming those fishes where as same as laguna in Kelana Jaya with all those good pachu weigthing 1kg and above. And so we decided to use hook size 7-8 seahawk hole-less hook. The fish took the bait and run like a rocket. My spool was cranking like hell u can even hear the clip ticking as if u ask a boy to pull ur line with a bikecycle while asking him to taddle fast fast. So that was their first few bites.. our hook went straight or out of shape.
Me and my first catch after underestimate those fishes in the pond.
Second hit on my yellow D.A.M spool it hit really hard.. i was using a breaded leader with red gamakatsu hook and a secret weapon "Tou Foo"
This was the catch... a rohu weithing approximate 2 kg.
As noon getting hotter and we getting lazier. I decided to cast my rod somewhere else and put far away from me. What happen next was truely unexpected. My old rod and spool (Ryobi) flew into water after some nibling. Just before it fell into water, i was trying my very best to reach the rod.. after my effor to reach in time to safe it. It already jump into water and i was going to jump into. But my conscious tells me NO!! i stop and stay calm as i watch my rod got tug into the pond by a fish. Then i went to the rest house if i can borrow a traveller (mata tiga or Cantonese " sam Cha) to use to retrieve my rod which fallen into water. They all laugh at me. They say, u r not the first person to borrow that. Many fisherman like u had lost quite a number of their rod into this pond. Some manage to get it back. Some just sank into bottom of the pond. I was quite amuse though and wanting to laugh cause this was my first time a whole rod got tug into water. I even can see my rod swimming away from me. I was sad or terrified.. but was rather facinated by it. So after borrow the traveller hook, I mark my casting target as i have strong feeling and my physic calculation of projectal, it should be there.. So i went to cast on my target.. My first cast to hook onto my running lineof my fishing rod which swam away from me.. and leads me to my rod.. I and Keith was laughing about it. The miracle part was, the fish is still hook. So once i reel in my rod, he grab whole of my Ryobi spool rod. He declared that this fish is his fight. i let him.
Look at Keith Figthing with the fish. Look how the rod bend.
Tough fighter!!
Finally landed a rohu after keith and the fish put on a good show.
The prize of fighting this fish after swam away with my rod.
Keith accidently snap a photo of his lap. LOL!!
Keith and i went back home with satisfaction in Kundang pond or known as "Tou Foo" pond
Right after we reach Subang Jaya, We went to chill our body in swimming pool in 3k with Jin Li and Jacq accompanies us.
