Jun Keat & Me fishing at Subang Lake

Me and Jun Keat when fishing together at Subang Lake. It was in the morning around 10.40am and it is already hot.

Anyway, We got there and we started fishing. Just as my bait touches the water a fish had took my bait. i hit it and reel in. Then i put up my bait again and cast it over to the fish jumping spot.. 3 mins later it hit again. This continuesly till i landed 5 fish (Pakcu) It was tiring and the fun

so after 5 pakcu, i got 2 patin after that. This time the patin isn't so big like the last time i caught. It was smaller than i had caught previously.

Jun Keat mus be having fun reeling those pakcu while i was preparing something else. hehe...

So after 2 hrs of fishing, we decided to leave. So we pack our stuff and we took the fish from the net. A lady and her daughter was looking at the catch we got in our net. I ask them if they would like to take some fish with them. They replied "ya.. can can, Thank You boy" I ask them "how many fishes u want, aunty? We dun really wan it" She say two fishes will do and i give two. Then a guy came over wanting to buy those left over fishes, and i sold the rest of pakcu for RM2.50 a kilo and there is 2 kilo. hehehe..

i make some money back Lol.

The two patin i took back home and one patin i'll give to Szetoo and the other is already in Xiao Thoong's house.

Conclusion, is a good feeling to give away fishes and make others smile. Wee..
till next post.

Popper

The use of popper in fresh water pond and lake in malaysia isn't popular. You know why?

Mainly, most malaysian fish (Native fish) are small and not so aggresive ( Excluded our native monster fish like Toman, Sebarau (Masheer) and Kelah) compare to Peacock Bass (PB), Large mouth bass, chiclid and etc. The problem lies at the number of fishes. In overseas like US and Japan, u can get PB, Bass and chiclid in their water system. The number is so much more. Plus the fact that this fish likes to entertain popper and it is irresistable for them. With that the use of popper for them is very popular and they even comes out with different action of popper in the market like "walk the dog".

In Malaysia, we dun have those many aggresive meat eater fish. That's why the use of popper isnt so popular. Lately the number of popper sold in the country is growing especially for saltwater.

Lately i have been using popper to catch PB in Subang Lake at the far end corner. i caught many PB using popper and it is real fun. You are able to see those PB coming from nowhere and snatch the popper. POW.. u hit one after another. hehehe.. i had great fun using popper. Oh those popper i use are homemade. hehe.. I'm a fly fisher so.. we make our own lure.

Peacock Bass on popper

P/S: The satisfaction of Fly Fishing is when your own design of lure/fly catches many fishes; this prove that your lure/fly is effective.

Huge patin

Keith and i went fishing somewhere in april. It was a sunday. We decided to go back Kolam Halim (Subang Jaya pay pond) to see if we can catch anything after our few sour attemp to catch last year.

So that night we went was after a heavy down pour during afternoon. We arrive the site around 9pm and started our fishing by using bottom fishing. After 20 minutes there is no activity or so ever. So i decide to put one more rod secrectly without the owner's knowlegde using float. few minutes later still no sign of fish eating our bait. Keith say why dun we do to the high grown near the TNB power house. And so we went.

since we change our location. we could see many fish taking air at different spot. I decide to cast the float first onto those stop where many fish jumps and left it there while i prepare the other rod. There is huge problem using float that time cause we couldnt see the float in the dark because we fail to get the glow in the dark stick. hehehe.. and best part was the float i use was home made. I use medicine bottle, those white square bottle. This method has been use ever since when i still schooling. i still remember the first time i use medicine bottle float was in form 3. there is alot of advantage in this float. hehehe.. i'm not going to share.. ok ok.. i know is no good to keep all by myself.

advantage of medicine bottom float:

1) u can control the weight of the float by filling more water inside if u wan heavy further casting distance and vice versa.

2) when wind blow, ready make float will blown away faster than medicine bottom thus keep to the spot u wan longer than foam float.

3) it looks more natural cause fish may think it is normal rubbish floating in the pond. (crapping and could be true)

See i'm so kind to let u guy know about the advantages.

back to the fishing story. So i couldnt see my float in the dark. My solution to the line tight. and to my surprise when i put my line tight, the fish already taken my bait and start running. POW!! i hit the fish.. the fish gives me a big tug. after few minutes i landed the fish. See the size of that fish.. is huge!!!

actually i seen bigger side than this. but this is my first time i landed a patin this size.

First fish landed and it is huge man for patin.

look at the size. Is two and half times the ribena bottle.
So after this fish i caught another slightly smaller one. but is still big. i didnt manage to take a picture of the smaller one.
Oh.. the smaller one survive the ordeal in small tank. The big one died. Since the small one survive, i release it into Szetoo Yan Ming's house pond. Is still there till today. hehehe..
i think he will in a pan soon. poor fish.
till next post.

Subang Jaya Lake

Lately, i have been fishing in Subang Jaya Lake behind SJMC or know as Jogging pond. It's time for breeding. All the big Peacock Bass about a kilo making nest near the shallow water. This is because, shallow water is easier to guard instead of deep water.

This fishes is caught using Fly Fishing with bait called clauser. Catching peacock bass with fly fishing is almost a 200% better than using bait or lure. The secret is lie behind the action that a fly move under water. The feather or fur that is use has very delicate touch in the water. It really move like a real fish. That's why fly is every effective. Beside, Peacock bass like fast moving fish. They don't like slow or dead fish. They prefer live catch.

Above, peacock bass weigthing around a kilo. This fish put a good fight. I let this fish go cause i practise catch and release.

Above, Peacock bass With very distinctive pattern and color. This fish can fetch a fairly good price in the market. Putting this fish in aquarium is very pretty. Guess what this fish is also release back into the pond.
*Practise "catch and release" to ensure future generation of fishes*

Fishing turns horror

Me and Keith went fishing on sunday at Laguna in Kelana Jaya. Fishing was fun in the begining when we first arrive. I was catching fish very quickly with my Fly fishing. The fish was taking my baiting very quickly and left keith catch nothing

Than the horror begins... U know fly fishing?? Fly fishing method of fishing is fling the line in the air to cast out ur line unlike the spool or multiplier reels. So there is this one cast i made had a big bang like a fire cracker exploded.. WEll to my surprise, my hook broken into 3 part.. I was praying very hard that i didnt damage anything.. but my prayer wasnt good enough.. i actually break a windscreen of Proton saga 2 belong to a guy sitting near us. His car was park behing me. Can u imagine that a fishing rod (fly) break a wind screen and it wasnt just a crack instead it mash the whole glass like someone swing a baseball bat into it.

With that incident my joyous fishing mood turns to the most lousy i ever faced. I was really sad. The settlement of the glass was RM500. That RM500 wasnt worth it.. serious.. i could have spend it to my friend in Teluk Gong.

it was the worst ever fishing trip i had. anyway.. next time must be extra careful with my fly rod when i cast them.

In the end, i still catch fish and keith catch none..
what a blue...

Fish to chill

It's been a very busy week for me especially have to work on public holiday (Wesak) and weekends due to one of our client got audit by Inland Revenue Board (IRB). I sacrifies my public holiday and weekends just to finish all the necessary documentations before hand in the documents which the IRB is requesting. It is really a dreadful job especially my previous colleague does not keep the records properly ( i hope i didnt do the same mistake). Many documentation where missing and some are wrongly placed. Sigh.. Imagine all the document are not complete and ur documentation doesn't tied back to what you have reported.. total mess.. Invoices are not don't correctly.. repeatition of invoice number for different billing occur many times.

Anyhow, i was already so cook up with many problem and they down stop there but kept pouring down on me.. plus the fact that my friends are now in difficult situation. i wont able to listen to them if i dont chill myself. I could blast off. So i decide to do some fishing to help myself to chill and reflect on myself.

Keith followed me to fish. We went to laguna on sunday night after my work. I was desparate to find some time off to chill that moment.

during fishing, Keith caught Rohu (grass cup) and i have none.. although i got one bite from the fish. I wasn't dissappointed though.. but i made myself chilled from tension from work.. it was great feeling not to catch any fish. i felt happy because i was able to feed the fish.. haha (i'm weird)

so, 10.30pm.. we went back home.. the next day i continue my work again.. no holiday for that weekends.. but i was able to chill myself while fishing.

So i guess fishing does you good!! although many people says it is boring (i don't think so).. but it is a good way to reflect ourselve and put away problems for that mean time. Is an alternative meditation remedy with injuring the fish.. hehehe =D

Cheers..
